VOLUME #1: Presenting Dance Movement to the Young Beginner

This pre-dance course syllabus is ideal for teachers of combination classes in ballet, tap, and gymnastics to the young beginner, aged four through six.

Watch the magic unfold as children respond with enthusiasm to learning with each easy step-by-step class.

You will gain valuable insight into teaching with 122 pages of comprehensive detailed material for a weekly combination class. Presented in a proven six-program format, each dance lesson plan follows one of six monthly themes offered throughout the hour lesson of ballet, tap, and gymnastics.

The benefit of these programs are in the fact they are designed to be fully rotated semi-annually to provide a standard for years of teaching excellence.

Overview of the Pre-Dance Combination Class:

GYMNASTICS: Class begins on the mat with basic warm up stretches followed by a rotation schedule of mat, low balance beam and mini trampoline skills. With guidance from you the students will reach their goals safely.

BALLET: Gymnastics is followed with use of 'London Bridge', 'Follow the Leader', 'Curtsey and Partners', 'From the Floor', or any of the six programs offered to introduce students to ballet movement and rudimentary dance techniques, offering an informal yet structured introduction to dance.

PANTOMIME: Next, students play a quick miming game with colorful hand drawn laminated cards. A durable studio asset and a happy interlude children will ask for each week. These card sets are optional and must be ordered separately.

TAP: Finally, class ends with a session in rhythmic tap. This follows the guidelines of the monthly program chosen for the ballet section. Basic warm up skills, followed by a quick performing section incorporating song and tap dance.
